During the last edition of the Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 21st, 2020, HANAC Corona Senior Residence was the recipient of the Best in Green Affordable Multifamily Award.

The HANAC Corona Senior Residence goes above and beyond in responding to New York’s demand for safe and affordable housing through innovative and sustainable building design including passive house.

The project fosters an intergenerational community through the inclusion of a pre-kindergarten on the ground floor, administered by the New York City School Construction Authority, which provides 54 slots for students.  The eight-story building in Corona, NY provides 67 affordable apartment units to low-income seniors, including 21 units set aside for formerly homeless seniors.

Congratulations to all partners and team members who worked on this project!

Think Architecture & Design, Bruno Frustaci Contracting, New York Engineers, Cuono Engineering, Association for Energy Affordability Inc., NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), Enterprise Community Partners, CHASE, Chicago Title, Goldstein Hall, James Mitchell, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Council Member Francisco Moya, former Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland.

Goldstein Hall represented HANAC in the acquisition, construction and syndication loan closing for the Corona Senior Residence, New York City’s first passive house senior housing project in over 30 years. Goldstein Hall assisted in the pre-development, acquisition and construction financing, as well as tax credit syndication for the project and negotiated legal documents for HANAC, and helped them secure needed financing.
