This year’s annual affordable housing CLE will focus on two sets of issues prominently voiced by local communities over the past several years. The first panel will address the difficult trade-offs in setting affordability levels and how government housing programs incentivize rentals vs. co-ops (or homeownership in general). The second panel will address the future of buildings owned by Housing Development Fund Corporations (entities formed pursuant to Article 11 of the New York State Private Housing Finance Law). Each issue will be addressed by panelists with extensive experience in affordable housing and diverse backgrounds from community advocacy to real estate development. This CLE will present an in-depth and substantive discussion of difficult issues that must be constructively addressed to ensure that the needed affordable housing is built and preserved.
